A track from a phone, a watch or a handheld, upload and join it with your friends tracks to complete the picture.
Add your track to a race, and see the whole fleet together.
A race is more useful with the whole fleet in it. Add your track to a race someone else has shared.
Data you upload stays private if you prefer, and you can change your mind whenever you want.
Windshift is free and the data you put there is yours. It is a non-profit learning and sharing resource to help promote sailing in NZ and elsewhere.
The idea is to share the race with others you sail with, and for everyone to learn better tactics and a better understanding of wind and tide in your area.
A lot of the data on Windshift comes from AIS, which is broadcast publicly — so you may see your own vessel in a race published by someone else.

Windshift (windshift.org.nz) is a free, non-profit sailing replay and analysis site run by a volunteer in New Zealand, together with the Windshift Tracker app for Android. This policy says what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
We do not store any tracking cookies or capture analytics.
Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with third parties for their own use. Data is stored with Amazon Web Services.
As long as your account exists, or until you delete it. A deleted track is removed straight away and from our backups within 35 days.
You can delete your account yourself at Delete account (also in Settings on the site, or Settings in the Windshift Tracker app). Your sign-in, email, settings, polars, notes and private tracks are deleted. Public tracks stay on Windshift as anonymous contributions, unless you choose to delete all your tracks, or delete them first. Shared boats and clubs stay.
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for a copy of your information or ask us to correct it. Email privacy@windshift.org.nz.
